British Taekwondo’s Sports Performance department have announced the squad for the seventh World Taekwondo Cadet Championships, with five British competitors ready to travel to Sheikh Zayed Sport City in Fujairah, UAE next month.
Hosted between May 10-14, the prestigious event will provide a platform for the stars of the future to showcase their skills on the biggest stage, with athletes coming from across the World to compete for the coveted prize.
Gabriella Pettigrew will be one of the five aspiring athletes heading over to perform, and will be flying the flag for Core Taekwondo in Kendal in the -29kg weight division.
The other female competitor will be Nyah Cannon, who is based out of NTC Nottingham and coached by Mark Moores, and she will be performing in the -33kg category.
There are also three males attending, with Henry Hunter (-33kg) and Luis Harrison (-41kg) both coming from Quest Taekwondo. The pair will be looking to follow in the footsteps of former club member Caden Cunningham, who won silver in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in the +80kg division, having excelled as a Cadet earlier in his career.
Joshua Sherratt of BTS Maddogs makes up the side, and will be competing in the -37kg division.
We wish all competitors the best of luck in their endeavours, and will be cheering them on all the way throughout the competition!
